Huawei has introduced a new software brand named Qiankun, aimed at intelligent driving, as part of its strategic move to become a significant player in the electric vehicle (EV) industry. Announced by Jin Yuzhi, CEO of Huawei's Intelligent Automotive Solution (IAS) business unit, the brand will offer self-driving systems that include the driving chassis, audio system, and driver's seat. Huawei anticipates that by the end of 2024, over 500,000 vehicles on the road will be equipped with its self-driving system, and more than 10 car models with the Qiankun system are expected to be available within a year. Since launching its smart car unit in 2019, Huawei has aimed to become the Bosch of the intelligent EV era, providing software and components to partners. The company has already launched seven EV models in collaboration with Chinese automakers, including three Aito brand models, the Luxeed S7 sedan, two models with Avatr, and one with Arcfox. Additionally, Huawei and BAIC have unveiled the S9 sedan under the premium Stelato brand. Amidst a price war in the world's largest auto market, Huawei-backed Aito has offered discounts on its new M7 SUVs of up to 20,000 yuan (US$2,760).
